Cyanotype Workshop — create your own solar print

Try an old 19th century photo technique and go home with your own unique artwork in the distinctive “Prussian blue” color.

Cyanotypy is one of photography's oldest printing methods. Using a sunlight-sensitive solution of iron compounds applied to paper, and a chemical reaction triggered by UV light, you evoke a beautiful monochrome print in a deep, blue tone. The technique has roots back to the 1840s, when English botanist Anna Atkins used it to publish the world's first book illustrated with photographic images -- she documented plants with both precision and an artistic eye.

In this workshop you will be introduced to the technique and make your own cyanotype print in under 20 minutes. You go home with a unique piece of art you can either hang up yourself or give as a gift to someone you care about.
